Guild ProgramsMultiple Warp DesignWhy be restricted to only one warp? A second (or even third) warp can be used in many different ways to embellish a cloth. From stripes to networked designs, from large scale patterns to tiny dots, this lecture will convince weavers that the extra time spent in warping is worth the effort. Examples will be available for viewing. Appropriate for experienced weavers. The Woven CodeName drafting allows weavers to design commemorative motifs without the appearance of actual letters. Learn the mechanics of name drafting in overshot and other weave structures, and satisfy that urge for sentimentality with sophistication. Appropriate for experienced weavers. Design TricksThis user-friendly discussion of color theories, proportion, and coordination of design elements will encourage weavers to go beyond the recipe and develop their own personal weaving style. Many examples will be shown, and for groups of 25 or less a hands-on color exercise can be included for an additional fee. Appropriate for all levels and interests. Weaver's MailboxSome things just can't be sent by e-mail. Handwoven greeting cards are special gems, and many examples from a large collection are shown in this lecture. Suggestions for materials, card design, and construction will be given. Audience members are encouraged to bring handwoven cards to display. Appropriate for all levels and interests.
