The Woven Code

Three-day workshop

Description for Publicity:

One part name drafting plus one part block theory equals an unusual way to design commemorative woven cloth without the presence of actual letters. Learn to develop your own name drafts in overshot, turned overshot, and other block weave structures, and satisfy that urge for sentimentality with sophistication. Sample weaving includes name drafts in a variety of block weave structures.

Day One:

The warping process, begun before the workshop, will be completed.

I. Lecture: code grids, profile drafts, overshot block threadings
II. Exercises: developing a personal profile draft and overshot name draft
III. Sample weaving

Day Two:

I. Lecture: modules, color profile drafts, turned drafts
II. Exercises: developing a color name draft, turning a draft
III. Sample weaving
