Warp PatterningDescription for Publicity:Why confine yourself to only one warp? The use of two or more warps opens up new and exciting opportunities for adding pattern to cloth. After learning to dress a loom with more than one warp we will explore many patterning techniques, most of which require only one shuttle. Sample weaving includes turned drafts, large-scale patterns, small-scale motifs, loom-controlled embellishments, and combining warp and weft patterning. Day One:

Level of weaving expertise: Intermediate to advanced Maximum number of students: 18 Students need: 8-shaft loom; 10, 12, or 15 dent reed; raddle; two sets of lease sticks; paper lunch bags (without lunch); two warp apron rods, two C-clamps, and weights for the second warp, or a loom with two warp beams; shuttles; bobbin winder; appropriate yarns for assigned sample; colored pencils; graph paper; magnifying or pick glass; $5 materials fee; patience. Room requirements: A well-lit room (natural light is a plus) large enough to accommodate students' looms; a seating area and tables so students can take notes during lectures To be provided for the teacher: Two large tables, chalk board and chalk, or white board and markers Teacher provides: Assigned drafts based on students' answers to a pre-workshop questionnaire, workshop drafts and handouts, samples for viewing Contact Barbara for further details and fee information.
